    Applications Open for Pima County Superior Court Vacancy Following Judicial Retirement

    TUCSON – Applications are now being accepted to fill a vacancy on the Pima County Superior Court created by the retirement of Judge Renee T. Bennett, according to a news release on the Judicial Department’s website.

    The Superior Court of Pima County, which consists of 53 judicial officers, oversees cases in criminal, civil, family law, juvenile, and probate matters.

    The Pima County Commission on Trial Court Appointments will review all applications, interview selected candidates, and recommend at least three nominees to Gov. Katie Hobbs for appointment, according to the news release.

    Applicants must meet specific criteria, including being at least 30 years old, possessing strong ethical standards, admitted to practice law in Arizona, and a resident of the state for the past five years.

    Additionally, applicants must have resided in Pima County for at least one year.

    Judicial application forms are available on the Judicial Department website or can be obtained by contacting the Administrative Office of the Courts.

    The deadline for submission is 3 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2024. Applicants from previous vacancies in Pima County do not need to reapply to be considered for this position.

    The commission may also consider these applications for any additional vacancies that arise before the screening meeting.

    All meetings of the Pima County Commission on Trial Court Appointments are open to the public, with meeting dates to be announced, according to the news release.
