School starts next week, which means increased weekday morning commuter traffic in Lake Oswego.

On Aug. 27, the Lake Oswego School District sent a message on ParentSquare to the community about how ongoing Stafford Road construction could impact school commutes.

This week, pathway improvements and paving are scheduled to be completed by Friday, Aug. 30, between Overlook Drive and the Rosemont Roundabout.

Near the new Lake Oswego Recreation & Aquatic Center, construction crews will continue working, usually between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., into the fall. If one lane is closed, flaggers will manage traffic.

The city said there will be a continued temporary traffic signal change at the intersection of Overlook and Stafford with blinking red lights at all signals on the intersection. The city and school district added to be aware of possible changes to traffic patterns directed by flaggers and to be aware of pedestrians when traffic changes.

“After this week, construction will be scheduled during school hours to minimize disruptions to bus routes and school commutes,” the district said in the message.
