As NFL teams finalized their rosters ahead of the season, several former New York Jets players found themselves among those released during the frenzy of final cuts. With the deadline to trim rosters from 90 to 53 players, many familiar faces are now navigating the uncertainty of free agency.

Quarterback Mike White , who gained brief fame with the Jets during the 2021-2022 seasons, was one of the notable names cut. White had been competing for the backup quarterback position with the Miami Dolphins but ultimately lost out to Skylar Thompson. White is now back on the market, searching for his next NFL opportunity.

Quarterback Tim Boyle also faced disappointment as he was released by the Houston Texans. Boyle, who has bounced around the league with the Packers, Lions, and Bears, could not secure a spot in a crowded Texans quarterback room. Despite making a few starts for the Jets in 2023, Boyle's journey in the NFL remains uncertain.

Defensive end Carl Lawson , a key player for the Jets during the 2022-2023 seasons, was released by the Dallas Cowboys. Lawson, who joined the Cowboys just a few weeks ago, could still return to Dallas on the practice squad or active roster. Lawson’s previous season with the Jets was highlighted by 7.0 sacks and 24 quarterback hits, but injuries have plagued his recent performances.

Tight end C.J. Uzomah , who was part of the Jets' roster in 2022-2023, found himself released by the Philadelphia Eagles. Uzomah, once a vital part of the Bengals' offense, couldn’t make enough of an impact to stay with the Eagles, especially following his recent injury struggles.

Wide receiver Denzel Mims , a former second-round pick by the Jets in 2020, was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mims, who had shown promise early in his career with the Jets, struggled to find consistency and was traded to the Lions in 2023. After a brief stint with the Steelers, Mims signed with the Jaguars in June but was released before the season began.

Fullback Nick Bawden , a former Jet in 2021 and 2023, was released as teams finalized their 2024 rosters. Despite being a 2018 seventh-round pick and playing a position in decline, Bawden carved out a role in the NFL. After stints with the Lions and Jets, where he played a career-high 16 games in 2023 and scored his first touchdown, Bawden was released by the Texans. With six years of experience and solid special teams contributions, Bawden remains a valuable option for teams seeking depth.

Running back James Robinso n, who briefly played for the Jets in 2022, was released by the New Orleans Saints. Robinson, who made headlines as an undrafted rookie with the Jaguars, has struggled to find a stable home in the NFL since his time with the Jets.

Running back Zonovan Knight , who was with the Jets as a rookie in 2022, was waived by the Detroit Lions. Despite showing potential during his time with the Jets, Knight couldn’t secure a spot on the Lions’ roster after a short stint on their practice squad.

As these former Jets players search for new opportunities, their NFL journeys continue to evolve, with the hope of landing on a roster as the season unfolds.
