Jets believe it’s still possible Haason Reddick could play Week 1 despite holdout

In theory, at least, Haason Reddick could still suit up with the Jets for Week 1.

The outside linebacker missed all of training camp amid an ongoing holdout that crescendoed a couple weeks ago with a trade request .

While Reddick still appears to be at an impasse with the Jets, coach Robert Saleh said Tuesday that a pathway for him to play on “Monday Night Football” against the 49ers in just under two weeks still exists.

“Depending on, I’m assuming he’s in phenomenal shape,” Saleh said. “He’s a veteran. He knows what he needs to get ready. He’s had success in multiple building, multiple schemes, multiple coaching staffs. So he’s gonna know what he needs to do to be ready for Week 1. He still has plenty of time.”

To that end, Reddick’s personal coach posted a workout video Monday, showing him doing a pass-rush agility drill.

Saleh, though, said he hasn’t reached out to try to broker a peace between Reddick and the Jets, nor does he plan to do so.

“I’ve just been focusing on the guys that have been here,” Saleh said, sticking to what has been the company line.

Reddick does have a locker with his name and the No. 7 but has not been at the team facility since April 1, when he took his physical.

The holdout reached its 36th day Tuesday, which equates to $1.8 million in training camp fines, as Reddick attempts to gain leverage for a new contract.

He is entering the final year of a three-year, $45 million deal under which he will make a non-guaranteed $14.25 million in base pay this season.

Reddick is looking to up that number to be competitive with the highest-paid edge rushers in the league — something that was known when the Jets traded a 2026 conditional third-round pick to get him from the Eagles during the offseason.

The Jets dealt defensive back and kick returner Brandon Codrington to the Bills in exchange for a swap of late-round picks in 2026, per multiple reports.

WR Mike Williams began doing team reps Tuesday as he works his way back from a torn ACL.

Saleh said fifth-round pick Jordan Travis’ rehab will be “a little longer than anticipated,” and the Jets will revisit his availability later in the season.

The former Florida State quarterback broke his leg toward the end of last season and will start this season on the non-football injury list.
