    California Braces for Impact as Major Employers Announce Significant Layoffs

    More businesses have filed mass layoff notices in California over the last week.

    The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act mandates that employers give 60 days' notice to employees and local government officials ahead of plant closures and mass layoffs. This federal law is intended to give workers time to seek alternative employment or retraining opportunities. Over the past few days, the following WARN notices have been lodged with the California Employment Development Department.
