Kelly Monaco's fans are petitioning GH

Virginia, General Hospital fans, there is an update on Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall). Soaps in Depth reports that the actress's followers have a Change.org petition to keep her on the soap.

When GH was going to axe Rebecca Herbst (Liz Weber), fans rallied and saved her job. After The Young and the Restless fired Doug Davidson (Paul Williams), his followers initiated a petition, but the Y&R execs have yet to heed them, and Davidson was not recalled to the CBS soap.

GH execs knew the fallout from this decision would be significant, so they probably thought carefully before firing Monaco. Frank Valentini could heed the voice of the GH viewers, make necessary changes to the script, and call Kelly back if her last episodes are not until late fall, as Soap Dirt suggests.

However, suppose Kelly Monaco's departure is in September, as projected by Celeb Dirty Laundry. In that case, she has already taped her final scenes, and General Hospital is probably already on course with its chosen direction and will not go back.
