NASA has managed to capture countless breathtaking photos of our galaxy . But did you know that the clearest view of the moon comes from photos taken by a photographer in Iraq? His name is Darya Kawa, and the result of his four-day-long photoshoot is absolutely mind-blowing. If you’ve ever taken a photo of the moon, you know how difficult it is to get anything more than a bright blob.

But even those with the best equipment struggle to get images as clear as Darya. With that said, how did he manage to pull off this incredible feat? According to a post shared in the Astrophotography Facebook group, it took “four days of continuous moon observation and shooting.” In the end, the image size turned out to be 708 gigabytes (GB) — for context, the average smartphone only has storage for 64-128 GB. In addition to sharing the type of camera and telescope used for this image, Darya says that over 81,000 images were stacked to make it. He also makes note of the fact that absolutely no AI was used in this photo. In other words, getting a photo as clear as this of the moon takes an incredible amount of time and skill!

“This is my most advanced moon photograph ever, featuring interesting surface details and maybe no one has ever seen it before,” Darya shares .

“This is just incredible,” someone shares in reply to Darya’s photos . “Putting people on the moon has to be one of the biggest achievements for all of humanity.”
