Philadelphia Eagles defensive back James Bradberry suffered an injury during the team's practice on Wednesday and is now expected to miss a significant amount of time.

"Eagles veteran DB James Bradberry suffered a lower leg injury during yesterday’s practice, sources tell me and Tom Pelissero," reported NFL Network's Ian Rapoport . "Although surgery is not required, the injury involves a tendon, and recovery time for an injury of this nature is approximately 6-8 weeks."

Rapoport added that Bradberry "should be back with plenty of time for the second half of the season."

Bradberry, who earned second-team All-Pro honors during the Eagles' 2022 Super Bowl run, struggled last season, with his performance dipping significantly after a controversial moment in the Super Bowl.

His infamous holding call against JuJu Smith-Schuster of the Kansas City Chiefs ultimately allowed Kansas City to secure a first down and set up the game-winning field goal.

Since that Super Bowl, it's been a tough road for Bradberry. In 2022, he had three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, and allowed just two touchdowns with an impressive 51.6 passer rating against him.

However, 2023 was a completely different story. Bradberry allowed eleven touchdowns, and his passer rating allowed more than doubled to 116.7.

These struggles led the Eagles to experiment with moving Bradberry to safety under new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Despite experiencing ups and downs during the transition in the offseason, he still made the 53-man roster.

Now, with this injury setback, Eagles fans will have to wait until midseason to see if Bradberry even gets a chance to play safety and if he can regain his form on the field.
