Virginia Tech needed a true inside linebacker for Chris Marve's scheme to work and the expectations are high in Blacksburg that Sam Brumfield is the guy to glue it all together. Brumfield has been the team's leading tackler at each of his stops since high school and if he plays at an All-ACC level, Virginia Tech's defense will be dominant this fall. Adding a dominant defense to the expected explosive offense that <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/kyron-drones-46081020/">Kyron Drones</a> brings to the field and the Hokies could be punching a ticket to the ACC Championship.Doug - <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/jaylin-lane-46093950/">Jaylin Lane</a> Leads the Team in Receptions - Yep, let's run this prediction back for a second consecutive year. Lane led the team last year with 41 receptions, so maybe that doesn't make this very bold at all, but Matej didn't set any rules, so we're going to run with it. Tuten produced&nbsp;1,652 all purpose yards last season in what was considered an excellent debut season for the NC A&amp;T Transfer in 2023. Those numbers are especially impressive given the offensive struggles of the team for the first four weeks of 2023, failing to properly feature the RB, and the oversight against NC State that saw Tuten carry the ball two times. I expect more of a consistent display for Tuten, who passed on the NFL to return to this VT offense, carrying the ball 15-20 times per game. His usage as a receiver should also see an increase as team's prepare to send their top coverage players against Ali Jennings, Da'Quan Felton and Jaylin Lane. Tuten will pose a threat against opposing linebackers in the passing attack. Lastly, Tuten has been penciled in as the No. 1 kick returner and should once again find a lot of success next season with a green-light to make big plays on the kickoff, where he contributed 550 yards and 2 TDs on just 19 retunrs (28.9 yards per return).&nbsp;Amber Marie - VT's defense ranks in the Top 10 of FBS Division I teams - The Hokies finished at No. 20 last year and lost quite a lot of production, but the loss on the defensive line has been negated by the transfer portal, a true mike linebacker has been acquired, and the guys are simply hungry. I think Antwaun Powell-Ryland takes the next step to improve his run defense and continues to get to the quarterback often. Almost no quarterback has both the continuity of system and familiarity in returning weapons that Drones has. And it seems Virginia Tech plays just enough mediocre opponents that you can imagine those stats have the opportunity to be padded from time to time. So let's just say Kolby is right and Tech at least goes to the ACC Championship, I'd assume that's a minimum 30 total touchdown season for Drones.
