Greg McElroy Reveals Prediction For Massive Week 1 Matchup Between LSU-USC

ESPN's Greg McElroy gave an exciting prediction for the USC-LSU game, picking a winner while expecting both clubs to bust up the scoreboard on Sunday evening.

"I think it's going to be close and a lot of it's going to have to do with the fact that I think this is a track meet," said McElroy on Thursday's episode of his show, "Always College Football."

Like the LSU vs. Ole Miss game from a year ago, McElroy expects explosive offense, a ton of points and an extremely tight ballgame down the stretch.

"One of the few games this week where I'm anticipating a lot of points being scored," he added. "I expect this game to kind of come down to the wire and it could be a scenario where whoever has the ball last ultimately wins."

With that said, time to make an actual pick...

"I think LSU is more equipped to be able to win those shootouts with a slightly more experienced quarterback in Garrett Nussmeier," asserted McElroy. "So I'm taking LSU. I think they'll get it done."

LSU and USC may be breaking in first-time starters this season at quarterback, but remember, these programs produced the last two Heisman winners. Points certainly weren't in short supply for either side last season, as both scored more than 40 per game with some pretty bad defenses coupled with them.

Who wouldn't love a good old college football shootout?
