What’s the Deal With ‘Seinfeld’ Cast Relationships? Find Out Who Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine Are Married to in Real Life

Over the course of Seinfeld ’s nine seasons, Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine had countless relationships, with varying degrees of success. Many of the show’s funniest moments (from “ They’re real and they’re spectacular ” to “ sponge-worthy ,” to name just a couple choice examples) arose directly from the characters’ chaotic yet hilarious love lives, and while we may have cringed at many of the choices they made, we couldn’t stop watching and quoting them (and yes, maybe even occasionally relating to them!).

In real life, unlike on the show, the Seinfeld actors all have long, happy marriages. Here’s a look at the offscreen relationships of the comedically gifted stars.

Jerry Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld ’s love life has earned him quite a bit of media scrutiny over the years. While he’s been happily married to his wife, businesswoman and cookbook author Jessica Seinfeld , since 1999, he notoriously dated fashion designer Shoshanna Lonstein , who he met when she was about to turn 18 and he was 38, from 1993 to 1997.

Seinfeld’s relationship with his wife Jessica Seinfeld was also a subject of tabloid interest, as he met her at a gym in New York City in 1998, when she had just come back from her honeymoon, and asked her out, not realizing she was a newlywed. She divorced her first husband that same year, and by the next year Jerry and Jessica were married. They have a daughter, Sascha, and two sons, Shepherd and Julian.

When asked for his marriage advice, Seinfeld said, “ It doesn’t matter if anyone’s right ” — a philosophy that’s clearly worked for the couple, given the fact that they’ve now been married for 25 years.

Jason Alexander

While George Costanza’s fiancée met a tragically ironic end when she died from licking a toxic wedding invitation envelope, Jason Alexander has been married to artist Daena Title since 1982 — seven years before Seinfeld even started. They have two sons, Gabriel and Noah, and became grandparents in 2022.

When Alexander met Title, it was love at first sight. As he recalled, “Within six weeks, I started proposing ,” but he was rejected three times, until he ultimately won her over with a proposal message on a billboard in Times Square.

With 42 years of marriage, Alexander and Title are one of the entertainment industry’s longest-lasting couples. In 1998, Title even made a cameo in Seinfeld ’s final episode, playing one of the jurors who ultimately causes George and his friends to be imprisoned.

Michael Richards

Kramer had the most mysterious love life of the Seinfeld characters, but Michael Richards has been married twice. Richards was first married to therapist Cathleen Lyons from 1974 to 1992. They had a daughter, Sophia, and two grandchildren. He married his current wife, actress Beth Skipp , in 2010. They have a son, Antonio.

Reflecting on having two children decades apart, Richards said, “This is a real second round for me, and I’m able to be really present because I have more time than I had before. It’s a very fortunate situation.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine Benes) met her husband, actor Brad Hall , when they were both students at Northwestern University in the '80s. They got married in 1987 and have two sons, Henry and Charlie. Both their sons were born while Seinfeld was airing, and sharp-eyed viewers could spot a number of attempts to hide Louis-Dreyfus’ pregnancies on the show.

Louis-Dreyfus and Hall have also worked together. They were both in the cast of Saturday Night Live from 1982 to 1985, and he directed her in three episodes of Veep . In 2002, he even created a sitcom starring her, Watching Ellie , but it wasn’t nearly as successful as Seinfeld , and was canceled after two seasons. She then starred in a short film he wrote and directed in 2012.

In an interview, Louis-Dreyfus reflected on the longevity of her marriage, saying, “You've got to find the right fellow . It is kind of basic, but very crucial. Brad and I certainly have similar goals and sensibilities; we're on the same page in terms of how we want to raise our children and what we like to do. We're always trying new things together — having adventures is a great way to be with your partner.”
