Listeria is extremely difficult to get rid of in a plant and comes mainly from drains and standing water. this then is transferred to the equipment that the meat is being processed and packaged on and those who are handling it. it can cause illness and death and, it can also cause loss of pregnancy. Very dangerous and it's scary how much of these bacteria are making their way into the homes where people consume and die from mistakes that can be prevented. I worked in food microbiology and Q/A service laboratory testing and, there's so much that is just human mistake
