Tracking where each of New York Jets' 34 cuts landed

The New York Jets released a total of 34 players this past week, trimming the roster down to the 53-man limit for the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers on September 9.

Fourteen of the players released by New York remain available on the open market.

Of the Jets’ 34 cuts, twenty-five of whom were required to pass through waivers, seventeen signed to the team’s Practice Squad . New York is allowed to carry one plus the 16-member P-Squad maximum due to offensive tackle Obinna Eze’s International Pathway player exemption. Meanwhile, offensive linemen Austin Deculus and Chris Glaser, both of whom were part of the organization in 2023, have landed Practice Squad deals with the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears , respectively.

Following a strong training camp performance that included a joint practice against the Carolina Panthers, Georgia Southern rookie cornerback Shemar Bartholomew was the lone Jets claimed off waivers. Four teams — Los Angeles Chargers , Kansas City Chiefs , Saints and Panthers — put in a claim for Bartholomew with Carolina winning the bid.

After making the initial 53-man roster, second-year wide receiver Jason Brownlee was waived on Wednesday to create a spot for the Jets’ successful waiver claim that landed Bears’ released rookie tight end Brenden Bates . Brownlee has since cleared waivers and is available to sign with any team.

Rookie safety Al Blades has reportedly tried out for the New York Giants but remains a free agent. He is one of 14 players released by the Green & White currently waiting for a call as is veteran defensive tackle Tanzel Smart, a fan favorite from HBO's Hard Knocks who has been with the organization, in some capacity, since 2020.

Here are the post-cutdown day statuses for all 34 released players who participated in Jets’ training camp this summer.
