Drunk Driver Crashes Car in Front Yard on Ridge Road

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - A man from Long Hill Township was arrested for driving under the influence and crashing his car into the front yard of a home on Ridge Road, according to police. Authorities say Andrew Jia, age 27, was issued multiple police summons and is pending his first court appearance.

On Sunday morning, police say they were alerted to a crash on Ridge Road involving a Chevy Malibu. Officers arrived to find the vehicle in the front yard of a home at the 600 block of Ridge Road, according to a press release.

Police say that Jia had failed to negotiate a curve on Ridge Road, drove straight over a sidewalk, down a driveway, made a left in the homeowner’s front yard then struck a fence and a tree. No injuries from the crash have been reported at this time.

Officers say they smelled alcohol on Jia’s breath, and determined he had been drinking at a friend’s apartment in Plainsboro. Police issued Jia a sobriety test and arrested him.

South Brunswick Police transported Jia to their headquarters. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, and reckless driving, according to authorities.
