A 61-year-old Winlock man was injured after failing to stop for slowing traffic and crashing into the rear of another vehicle on Interstate 5 in Napavine on Friday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Shawn L. Clark was traveling north in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala at about 2:10 p.m. when traffic slowed. He crashed into a 2013 Ford Edge driven by a 75-year-old Olympia man.

Clark, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The Olympia man and a 73-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Ford were not injured.

    The Impala was totaled.

The state patrol listed the cause of the crash as “following too close.” Drugs or alcohol were not involved.
