Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media following the 14 th -ranked Tigers’ 34-3 loss to No. 1 Georgia on Saturday in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

A lot has been made about Swinney’s approach to the transfer portal, and he was asked what he would say to people who point to that when they see something like the outcome of Saturday’s game.

“People are going to say whatever they want to say,” Swinney said. “It doesn’t matter what I say. People are going to say whatever they’re going to say.”

Swinney added that the Tigers “do what’s best for Clemson, year in and year out.”

“And when you lose like this, they’ve got every right to say whatever they want to say,” Swinney said. “So, say whatever you want to say, write whatever you want to write. That comes with it. That’s just part of it.”

Clemson, of course, is one of four programs in the FBS that didn’t take a player from the transfer portal this offseason (Air Force, Army and Navy).

Swinney’s Tigers will return to the field for their home opener against App State on Saturday, Sept. 7.
