Though districts across the nation have supported cellphone bans, NYC's leaders say 'not so fast'

New York City — "If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere," goes the old saying to describe the Big Apple. In some cases, this motto even applies to passing new laws,

Like other school districts nationwide, educators in NYC have become fed up with having to "compete with iPhones for student's attention."

For the above reason, NYC initially planned to restrict cellphone use by students. However, after carefully considering the matter, the mayor and city officials decided to delay the plan.

In the eleventh hour, Mayor Adams realized this: because NYC has the nation's biggest school district, it would be wise to make sure all boxes are checked before finalizing the ban.

The mayor even noted the city intends to strongly consider the opinions of parents to make sure they're on board.
