Joel Klatt Dumps the Ducks After Subpar Showing in Week One, Releases CFB Top Ten

In his weekly rating of Top Ten teams after this weekend's games, Joel Klatt dropped a Vandal-sized war hammer on Oregon's prospects for success in 2024.

Klatt dropped the Ducks from number four in his ranking all the way out of his College Football Top Ten after their narrow escape against Idaho, 24-14.

After seeing everybody play he ranks the sport's ten best teams as follows:

1. Georgia

2. Ohio State

3. Texas

4. Notre Dame

5. Alabama

6. Miami

7. Ole Miss

8. Penn State

9. Michigan

Klatt declined to name a number ten team, perhaps to better troll the Ducks, or to reserve judgement until he sees the outcome of #23 USC vs. #13 LSU.

Before yesterday the consensus among football pundits was that Oregon was a likely playoff team and even a contender for the national title. With Idaho exposing issues on the offensive line and a grating propensity for the offense to shoot itself in the foot, the Ducks are undergoing a painful reevaluation in the national media.

That's just perception, however. They are still 1-0 in the standings, with the opportunity to move the perception needle with a better focus against Boise State.
