Digital Ad Highlights McCormick’s Record as He Campaigns in Washington County

PENNSYLVANIA – As Republican Senate candidate David McCormick campaigned in Washington County to discuss lowering prices, a digital ad in the Observer-Reporter highlighted his support for the 2017 corporate tax cuts, which critics say have harmed working Pennsylvanians. The ad underscores McCormick’s backing of the tax policy, which raised taxes on over 375,000 Pennsylvania families while benefiting large corporations and the ultra-wealthy.

McCormick’s Support for Trump Tax Cuts Under Fire

David McCormick has publicly endorsed making the Trump-era tax cuts permanent, a stance that has drawn significant criticism from Pennsylvania Democrats. “I think the policy we should have going forward […] is to make permanent the Trump tax cuts,” McCormick stated, aligning himself with the controversial 2017 tax reforms.

The 2017 tax cuts, widely viewed as a boon for corporations, included provisions that increased the tax burden on many middle-class families while slashing taxes for businesses by $1 trillion. Additionally, the policy added $1.9 trillion to the national debt and incentivized companies to outsource jobs overseas, further impacting Pennsylvania’s workforce.

Pennsylvania Democrats: “McCormick Puts Personal Gain Over Working Families”

Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson TaNisha Cameron condemned McCormick’s tax policy stance, accusing him of prioritizing his financial interests over the needs of working Pennsylvanians. “David McCormick has a long record of putting his personal bottom line ahead of working Pennsylvanians,” Cameron stated. “He’s trying to distract from his support for a tax giveaway that raised taxes for hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians, all while he avoids paying his fair share. Pennsylvanians can’t trust David McCormick to be for them.”

Cameron’s statement also highlighted McCormick’s use of a “dynasty trust,” a financial vehicle commonly used by the ultra-wealthy to pass down assets while minimizing tax liabilities. Critics argue that McCormick’s use of such trusts further demonstrates his disconnect from the economic realities faced by everyday Pennsylvanians.

    McCormick’s Out-of-Touch Record Under Scrutiny

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is ramping up efforts to hold McCormick accountable for his record, framing his support for the 2017 tax cuts as part of a broader pattern of favoring corporate interests and the wealthy. The party’s campaign aims to draw a clear contrast between McCormick and candidates who prioritize the financial well-being of working families.

As McCormick continues his campaign tour in Pennsylvania, Democrats are leveraging his past policy positions to question his commitment to the state’s working class. With Election Day approaching, the scrutiny on McCormick’s record is likely to intensify as both parties vie for the support of voters concerned about economic inequality and fair taxation.
