Alabama Man Succumbs to Injuries After Dismembering by Lover

(Alabama)- An Alabama woman is behind bars after being accused of beheading and dismembering her lover with a chainsaw between August 24, 2024, and August 27, 2024, according to Yahoo News.

Now, 26-year-old Joselina Elizabeth Lopez has been arrested and charged with one count of intentional murder in connection with the gruesome death of 41-year-old Benito Morales Guzman.

Guzman’s dismembered body was discovered Tuesday morning, August 27, inside a car parked behind his home near Grady Garner Road and New Hinson Road. Sources close to the investigation revealed that Guzman had been beheaded and "completely" dismembered before his remains were placed in the vehicle.

As of September 2, Lopez remains in the Geneva County jail.

Guzman Was Helpful Around the Community

WDHN News spoke with Jacob Martin, a family friend, who said he had recently seen Guzman and verified that Guzman was a local handyman and worked for Mr. Granite, a countertop installation company. He was also very helpful around the community.

" Benito was a good and honest man; there wasn’t a thing he couldn’t fix, and if we needed him, he was always there. “He was a great cook, and he loved his daughter and his team, Auburn," said Martin.
