Fall is coming and so are tons of local fall festivals all over the Beaufort SC area. With cooler weather arriving to the Lowcountry with the (sort of) change of seasons, it’s always easier to enjoy more comfortable outdoor activities.

With at least a dozen or so coming up…here are 5 festivals that you don’t want to miss this fall in Beaufort SC.

OktoPRfest in Port Royal, September 28th from 11-5

Dubbed, “OktoPRfest – Party Port Royal Style,” the event features local chefs, restaurants and food trucks serving up German-inspired dishes that will be properly washed down, Oktoberfest-style, with a variety of craft, imported and domestic beers.

The event also hosts live music, and this year will include Skarlett Whiskey and True Carolina.

Other entertainment includes a Classic Car Show with the Beaufort Classic Car & Truck Club, a family-oriented Kids Zone for the little ones and more. As always, there will be an artisan/craft fair at the event, because ecerybody loves local Lowcountry artisans.

Special to the event this year, it's also celebration the 150th birthday of the Town of Port Royal.

    30th Annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival, October 4th & 5th

The 30th Annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival will be held at downtown Beaufort’s Henry C. Chamber Waterfront Park on Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th. Beaufort’s annual Shrimp Festival celebrates Lowcountry cuisine and incorporates lots of fun activities for all ages. Enjoy 2 days of concerts, competitive events and delight in several local restaurants filling Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park offering samples of Lowcountry dishes featuring local wild-caught shrimp.

One of Beaufort’s most popular festivals, the Shrimp Festival excitement kicks off at 5pm on Friday, October 4th and includes live music along with several area eateries previewing their creative shrimp concoctions for Saturday’s serious competitions, which are scheduled from 11am to 5pm.

    Habersham Harvest Festival, October 11th – 13th

The favorite Lowcountry street festival, the Habersham Harvest Festival features a vintage fair theme with family activities, celebrated local food purveyors, live music and artisan crafts set against the backdrop of timeless southern architecture on Market Street.

Everyone will enjoy tons of fall fun while browsing artisan vendors, enjoying carnival rides, great local food and live music on the main stage, plus plenty of activities for kids of all ages including the popular 47-ft Ferris wheel, vintage rides, contests, face painters, hayrides, a petting zoo and lots more.

    This year’s Harvest Festival is a three-day event beginning Friday, October 11th from 4pm to 8pm, Saturday, October 12th & Sunday, October 13th from 10am to 6pm.

Lowcountry Fish & Grits Music Festival, October 5th

The Lowcountry Fish & Grits Music Festival over on Hilton Head Island celebrates the rich Gullah Geechee culture in the Beaufort area. Enjoy vendors, lots of great food, live music, and more…in true Gullah style.

Before shrimp and grits became a culinary favorite, it was a staple in Gullah Geechee kitchens. Before the world knew about blues, rock, and jazz, their rhythmic and melodic structures were heard in the fields and praise houses throughout the congressionally legislated Gullah Geechee Heritage Corridor.

The Fish and Grits Music Festival is a family friendly one-day event, on picturesque Hilton Head Island, SC. FGMF‘s mission is to continue the awareness of the Gullah Geechee culture, highlight its evolution, and its connection to the African diaspora through entertainment, visual and performing arts and community engagement.

    Yemassee Shrimp Festival, September 10th-13th

They celebrate shrimp in Yemassee, too, with the annual Yemassee Shrimp Festival! With dozens of food and retail vendors, live entertainment, a 5K, a good ol’ fashioned carnival and lots more, you’ll have a great time enjoying all the fun.

Fall is coming, and it’s a time to spend outdoors enjoying one of our many special festivals all around Beaufort, SC.

    We’ll see you there!
