(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A national competition is encouraging K – 12 students to use their imaginations and create their own video games.

The U.S. National Science Foundation's Game Maker Awards is accepting applications for the “Life in 2100” competition, in which students have been asked to imagine what life will be like 75 years in the future.

The competition is celebrating the 75th anniversary of NSF.

Students have until Jan. 31, 2025, to enter for their chance to win up to $7,500 dollars in various prize categories.

Organizers said “Life in 2100” applicants should incorporate NSF themes into their video game. These themes include cheaper and cleaner energy, technological breakthroughs and changes in the ways humans work.
