Beetlejuice Sequel Filmed in Massachusetts to be Released This Week
7 days ago
This Massachusetts town had to be careful not to say his name three times.
On September 6th, the long awaited sequel to Tim Burton's 1988 film Beetlejuice will be released in theaters. Appropriately titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the film bring stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherone O'Hara back to their iconic roles. Additionally, they're joined by new cast members Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci.
Multiple sites were used to bring the sequel to life. Primarily, East Cornith, Vermont was the principal filiming site and stood in for the movie's fictional town of Winter River.
However, due in part to last year's SAG-AFTRA strike, some relocation was needed. This resulted in some filming also taking place in Melrose, Massachusetts.
When the cast and crew needed to momentarily stop filming in East Cornith, Melrose was used to film some of the nighttime Halloween scenes. This had some homes in the town be given a spooky makeover in order to fit with the holiday setting.
During the film's Melrose stop, those involved such as director Tim Burton and actress Jenna Ortega were spotted and photographed. Ortega in particular was seen wearing a black and purple striped dress and riding a bike along the street of houses.
Additionally, the sequel took time filming in England. Many of the film's interior scenes were shot in London studios.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice premiered on August 28th at the 82st Venice Film Festival before being released later this week.
