Last NBA Stop for Davis Bertans?

    By Lance Roberson,

    2024-09-03

Although the Golden State Warriors missed on trading for Utah Jazz All-Star Lauri Markkanen, the team has another opportunity for a European sharpshooter. According to NBA insider Marc Stein and agent Artūrs Kalnītis, Davis Bertans received a training camp invite from the Warriors.

Bertans played with the Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Charlotte Hornets last season. The Latvian native is an eight-season NBA veteran. Although he's played for five NBA franchises in eight seasons, Bertans is one of the more efficient role players in the league.

Bertans converts 39 percent of his 3-point shots on 4.7 attempts per game. Although he averages 7.7 points for his career, his Washinton Wizards stint lasted for 145 games. In the 145 games, Bertans averaged a career-high 11.6 points, earning Most Improved Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year votes for the 2019-20 season.

Bertans has a Western Conference Finals appearance with the Mavericks in 2022, which they lost against the Warriors.

Regardless of whether Bertans makes the roster, the Warriors front office will receive a decent PR boost with agents of veteran players.

Golden State needs all the help it can get following its third missed postseason in four years. The Warriors' forward depth chart features Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga, with lesser experienced players at the four-spot.
