September is Library Card Sign-Up Month

Kent County Public Library joins the American Library Association and libraries nationwide to encourage every member of the community to connect with their library and the wealth of resources it offers.

A library card can save you so much money, because it lets you borrow items for free!

You probably know that the library has books and DVDs, but that’s just the start. Kent County Public Library also has hotspots, video games, graphic novels, STEM kits, board games, activity kits, magazines, and more that you can check out. With a library card, you can borrow all these items for free.

Your library card also lets you use KCPL’s Digital Library from any device with internet access. The Digital Library includes: online classes, live online homework help tutors, test prep for GED, SAT, ASVAB, and many other exams, digital magazines, ebooks and audiobooks, language learning programs for kids and adults and research resources.

Just like the items on the physical shelves, everything in the Digital Library is free to use with your library card.

Signing up for a library card is easy. A library card is free for Maryland residents, including current Washington College students. Non-residents can get a card for a $10 annual fee.

To apply, you will need:

Current valid photo ID

Proof of current address or documentation of no fixed address

If under 18, a parent or guardian must co-sign.

Fill out an application at any KCPL location, or visit kentcountylibrary.org to register online.
