If you are looking for a new Magic Keyboard for your iPad without breaking your wallet, Apple could something in store for you soon. According to a new report, Apple is developing a new, cheaper Magic Keyboard for iPads.

Although Apple recently launched a new Magic keyboard with the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air 6 models, it is a premium keyboard made of metal with clicky keys for premium typing. It costs a lot and can strain your budget.

However, it seems Apple has a solution. According to Mark Gurman’s latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Apple is developing a new magic Keyboard, which will cost far less than the premium variant introduced with the iPad Pro back in May for the base model iPad and the new iPad Air.

The latest Magic keyboard, launched in May, arrived with a range of improvements, including premium materials and a larger trackpad, making the iPad Pro closer than ever to being a MacBook alternative.

However, Gurman reports that Apple suppliers are working hard to develop a new iPad keyboard for next year. It is primarily designed for lower-end iPads, like the 11th-gen or iPad Air.

Unfortunately, it also means Apple will have to remove things like the metal palm rest from the keyboard to make it more affordable, which isn’t surprising.

The new Magic Keyboard will likely succeed both the Magic Keyboard Folio, introduced in 2022 with the iPad 10, and the older Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air, introduced in 2020.

The report also suggests we may get a new function row that is unique to the Magic Keyboard for iPad Air.

As for the launch time, Gurman states the new keyboard will arrive around mid-2025 “if all goes to plan.”
