    Timbaland, Missy Elliott & More Mourn The Death Of Fatman Scoop

    Some of Fatman Scoop's closest collaborators paid homage to the late artist after he passed away unexpectedly over the weekend.

    In the hours after the artist's death was announced on Saturday, August 31, tributes from all around the world poured in on social media. Timbaland , who worked with Fatman Scoop and Magoo on their 2001 hit "Drop," was one of the first to react to the horrible news.

    "Man I’m at a loss for words 😢😢😢," Timbo wrote under a black-and-white photo of Fatman Scoop. "Drop was the song I started with on tour 😢Rest easy 👑 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🕊️🕊️🕊️ @fatmanscoop."

    Other artists like Questlove , Ludacris and Jim Jones also posted emotional tributes to the late artist. Quest thanked the New York native for his dedication to preserving Hip-Hop's essence while Luda praised Fatman Scoop's legacy. Missy Elliott , who collaborated with the rapper on her 2005 smash hit "Lose Control," also took to social media to mourn him.

    "Prayers for Fatman Scoop family for STRENGTH during this difficult time🙏🏾" she wrote on X formerly known as Twitter. "Fatman Scoop VOICE & energy have contributed to MANY songs that made the people feel HAPPY & want to dance for over 2 decades. Your IMPACT is HUGE & will be NEVER be forgotten..🕊️🙏🏾"

    The iconic voice of the clubs, born Isaac Freeman III, passed away after he suffered from a medical emergency on stage during a performance in Connecticut. Video from the concert showed Fatman Scoop with a mic in his hand before he passed out behind the DJ booth. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was only 53. As of this report, his cause of death has not been confirmed. His family took to social to issue a formal statement about his passing.

    "FatManScoop was not just a world class performer, he was a father, brother, uncle and a friend," the statement reads. "He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength and courage."
