Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark's effect on the WNBA is undeniable. Ever since Clark was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick, the league has seen unprecedented ticket sales and viewership records shattered.

The NCAA's all-time scorer is also delivering on the hype. Since returning from the Olympic break, Clark is averaging 24.6 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds per game. While the debate over whether Clark should be the WNBA's Rookie of the Year continues, the guard's achievements appears to have ruined a decades-long friendship between WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes and fellow Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman.

Swoopes, who's been called out several times for not giving Clark proper recognition, incorrectly claimed the former Hawkeye spent five years at Iowa in order to break Pete Maravich's scoring record on " Gil's Arena " back in January.

Amid her feud with Lieberman, Swoopes shared her personal text messages with the rookie phenom from back in February to prove she doesn't have personal beef with Clark.

Swoopes wrote in a text message, "Hey Caitlin, I wanted to personally reach out to you and say I made a mistake on what year this is for you. Covid year has me all confused.. Lol! I also have nothing but respect for you and your game and appreciate your skill. Congrats on everything you have accomplished thus far. Be blessed."

Clark responded, "No worries at all. I appreciate you reaching out and there's no hard feelings. I appreciate all you have done for women's bball and inspiring girls like me and building the foundation and platform we have today!"

The situation surrounding Clark and Swoopes escalated following Lieberman's recent appearance on the " Stephen A. Smith Show ." Lieberman said of Swoopes, “I called her as a friend and I said ‘You can say whatever you want... but you do have to get the statistics right. I mean, facts matter.

"She got upset with me on the phone… So our relationship pretty much is not happening at this point. I tried to talk to her at the Final Four, she didn’t want to talk to me. My life is going to be good or great with or without Sheryl Swoopes in my life. I’d rather have her in it."

Show of class and humility by Caitlin Clark with the response. Swoopes could learn a thing or 2 her and hopefully keep her trap shut.
