    A developer wants to build 80 new townhomes east of the Santa Ana Zoo

    Meritage Homes is hosting a community meeting on Wednesday, Sep. 4, from 6 to 7 p.m., to learn more about a proposed for-sale townhome residential project at 2020 East First Street (which is a few blocks east of the Santa Ana Zoo).

    Meritage Homes is proposing to redevelop the 3.72-acre site with eighty (80) three-story townhome units ranging from approximately 1,200 square feet to 1,800 square feet in size and six (6) live-work units that would be 2,500 square feet in size. The units would provide two to four bedrooms and a two car garages with either side-by-side or tandem parking configuration. The project site would have 194 parking spaces including guest parking. As proposed, the project would require approval of a Tentative Tract Map.

    The community meeting will be held at the First Point Apartments Community Room, located at 2112 E 1st Street, Santa Ana .
