The New York Knicks are one of the most well-known franchises in the NBA, but they have not won a championship since 1973.

NBA.com has published a series of articles previewing the season for all 30 teams. Their most recent piece was on the Knicks, and they think this could be the year that they end the drought that has persisted since the '70s.

"This franchise since then dealt with heartbreak, years of bad management and prime Michael Jordan. The Knicks have progressed from one H-word — hell — to another — hope," Shaun Powell writes. "A championship is a realistic goal for a team built to win... The Knicks could very well be Boston’s biggest threat in the East."

The last time the Knicks were even in the NBA Finals was back in 1999, but they ran into Tim Duncan, David Robinson, and the rest of the San Antonio Spurs. This year, they will be looking to get back to the big game.

Trading for Mikal Bridges is the biggest reason why many believe the Knicks could make some noise this season, and rightfully so. Also, given the fact that they were able to get to the second round with injuries to their stars, they could make it even farther now that they are healthy.

The Knicks will be looking to contend with the likes of the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference this season, as well as contend for their first title since 1973.
