Horse Brothers Kissing Each Other 'Good Luck' Before a Show Are the Kindest Boys

Horses are so fascinating. There's genuinely nothing quite like watching a horse, whether they're showing or just kind of standing there. Everyone goes through a horse phase for a reason.

Recently, there was a couple of shows that a woman was participating in with her horses, and they were ready to go. As soon as they were ready to get off the trailer, though, the two of them decided they couldn't get through it without a kiss!

Blanka Astora specializes in show horses and horse shows, but I'd bet anything these boys are some of her favorite. How could they not be? They're the cutest!

Don't let the little guy fool you: he's not a foal. In fact, he's a Shetland, and according to Blanka, he's 18! He's been showing his whole life along with the other horses in her care, and he almost never gets nervous before shows anymore. It gets easier when he has someone by his side that he knows, though, and his wisdom rubs off on them too!

His name is Ciuciu. He was well-groomed before the show, but his trailer-mate couldn't let him go out into the ring without straightening out his hair, hence the vigorous kisses. Unfortunately, we're not sure where they placed in the show, but hopefully close together!

Why Do Horses Groom Each Other?

It's in animals' nature to groom each other most of the time. Cats do it, dogs do it, and even humans do it - I have personally fixed many a hair that was out of place on my friends and sent them on their way. It's no surprise that horses groom each other, too.

Horses will groom each other as a way of bonding, just like other animals do. They often do it idly, like while they're waiting to be unloaded or when they're just standing around. Horses might also groom each other in places they can't reach on their own: if you watch horses for a little while, you'll notice they do a lot of licking each other's backs.

The best part, though, is that horses will often groom each other after they fight as a way of saying sorry. They wait for the other horse to groom them back, and once they do, it's all good. They're really just like humans, wanting to avoid admitting guilt but also patching things up is iconic. These horse brothers are the most iconic of all!
