I shouldn't comment. FYI, even knowing your blood type is not going to speed up your treatment. Even an alert health care patient needing blood & knowing their type, must still be tested and verified. If given a transfusion without testing and verifying results by another in the field, is malpractice. If your reported knowledge of your own type might possibility be wrong you could die if transfused without type, cross matched. Now to be fair in a dire situation when giving blood STAT ( ASAP) To help prevent death, an ALREADY THOROUGHLY TESTED UNIT , O- Can be given. when your own type isn't yet verified. Even a parent only donor consent for their child (with previous known same type). If child needs a transfusion but parent hadn't yet donated and had complete tests done and verified, child will not receive the parent's donation. And without parents consent, child will not receive a transfusion ( as in a growing neonate)in the U.S. Still good idea to know your blood type.
