Elton John shares 'severe' health battle that's left him with 'limited vision'

Elton John has bravely opened up about his secret health battle which has affected his eye-sight .

The Rocket Man legend has told fans he has been suffering with a 'severe eye infection' that has greatly impacted his vision.

The hit-maker, 77, told fans in an emotional statement on Instagram of his health woes. He said: "Over the summer, I've been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye."

The Candle in the Wind singer, renowned for incredible piano skills, added: "I am healing, but it's an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye. "

Sir Elton took time to thank the medical team for their expert care. The star, who shares two children with husband David Furnish said: "I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks."

Concerned fans have flooded the Grammy winner's socials with get-well messages.

Fashion queen Donatella Versace said: "Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you." Another said: "Love you, sending healing vibes." A third chimed in: "Sorry to hear. Sending all the love and healing powers."

Sir Elton has had a tough time of late with his health. Last summer the megastar was rushed to hospital after he suffered injuries following a fall in his villa in Nice, France. The legendary 76-year-old musician was taken to hospital after the incident last August.

He was rushed to the orthopaedic department of the Princess Grace hospital in Monaco, his team tell The Mirror. Sir Elton received 'checkups' from medical professionals after the slip at his lavish mansion in the south of France.

The Tiny Dancer hitmaker was discharged to recover at home. A representative for Elton confirmed the ordeal in a newly released statement, saying he suffered a 'slip'.
