HGTV star Erin Napier got sentimental in an Instagram post yesterday. She and her husband, Ben Napier, shared a sacred moment in all parent’s lives when their baby outgrows their crib. The couple took to social media to share the bittersweet milestone in a heartwarming post.

Erin Napier’s Youngest Daughter Reaches Bittersweet Milestone

The couple and cohosts of HGTV’s Home Town Takeover shared individual Instagram posts yesterday about their youngest daughter outgrowing her family crib.

In her post, Erin shared how the crib came to be. She wrote in her caption:

“Minutes after learning we were expecting Helen, in 2017, @scotsman.co started drawing the plans for her crib. He built it from white oak with one tiny plug of heart pine in the top rail that came from inside the wall of our house so his daughter would have a piece of home that belonged to her. Mae slept in it for the last time last night so here, we can remember it.”

This is no ordinary crib. It was crafted with love by the hands of the girl’s father. Also with a piece of their actual home within the wood of the crib. Ben also got emotional in his Instagram post as well.

    Another Emotional Post

In his post, he focused on the passage of time. He recalls making the crib for his and Erin Napier’s first daughter, Helen. Then, he shared how, over seven years ago, as soon as he found out his wife was pregnant, he began work on the crib. Afterward, he shared all that had happened in the crib’s lifetime.

“A little over 6 years ao, Helen moved out of her bassinet and into the white oak crib I had built.” He shares how Helen moved out of that crib a little over three years ago, and their younger daughter Mae moved in. Now, that crib stands empty.

Ben wrote, “Last night was probably the last night one of my children will sleep in the crib I spent so much time working on.” While the moment is sad, it is also happy. Ben continues, “Mae is currently taking a nap in her big girl bed. It’s a beautiful antique cherry, Jenny Lind.”

Although it is sad to see your baby grow out of such a loving gift, watching your child grow and move on to bigger and better things is a gift in itself.

    What Happens Now?

Although the girls may be too big to sleep in the crib now, its job is not done. First, Erin Napier and her husband admit that the crib will live in Mae’s room just a bit longer, “In case she has some trouble with her big girl bed.”

From there, Ben shared “The white oak crib will go into storage until my babies become mamas, then it will be used again.” It seems like this lovely crib gets a rest before it will once again bless the babies who sleep in it. He ends the post with a loving sentiment. “nothing makes you more aware of time than having children.”
