Nearly 27,000 students across 41 campuses in Grand Prairie schools have an unexpected day off today after the City of Grand Prairie revealed a problem with the tap water system.

In addition to the school closures, the district also announced that all extracurricular activities are cancelled as well.

Grand Prairie north of Interstate 20 is under a "Do Not Use Water" advisory because of what the city calls a "foaming agent" in the water supply. There's no information on what this foaming agent is or how it got in the water.

Free bottled water will be available at City Hall

Grand Prairie school administrators seem confident this will get resolved today so they say schools will resume a regular schedule on Thursday.
