Coffee Chain Tim Hortons Has Reportedly Recently Expressed Interest About Expanding To Areas Of FL

    2024-09-05

Floridians who have homes in (or travel to) other states (particularly in the north) may be well aware of Tim Hortons, the Canada-based coffee and donut chain. Floridians interested in trying this popular choice may be happy to know that the chain has repeatedly (and recently) expressed interest in expanding to the Sunshine State.

About Tim Hortons: This chain originated in Canada. The first one opened over 50 years ago. The company is particular about its coffee. It's grown in small batches in regions like Colombia and Guatemala.

The chain was founded by Miles Gilbert "Tim" Horton, a professional hockey player who played for several NHL teams.

York University assistant marketing professor Alan Middleton has attributed Tim Hortons success as follows:

"Tim's is every man and every woman, and that’s its power...It's genuinely beloved."

Tim Hortons Interest In South And Central Florida: Although the chain just recently reiterated its interest in Florida, it has been referencing Florida for a while.

In early 2023, Ryan Ferranti, head of business development for Tim Hortons U.S., told the Miami Herald, in part:

“We are...prioritizing growth in the South Florida market. While we are targeting growth in multiple territories within the state of Florida, Miami-Dade and Broward counties are of particular interest....”

More recently, in late August of 2024, Tim Hortons appeared at the International Council of Shopping Centers in Orlando. An appearance at this event indicates that businesses are looking to enter central Florida markets. The company has also reportedly identified Florida as a "top priority market."

Tim Horton's reportedly indicated that franchise fees run $50,000 for a standard shop and require a franchisee agreement issued on a 20-year term for a specific location.

The author is not affiliated with Tim Horton's or any other restaurants.
