Apalachee High School student describes 'screams' as shooter 'killed four and injured 30'

A student from Apalachee High School said students screamed as they ran for their lives when a shooter opened fire on Wednesday morning .

The high school, located in Georgia, was put under lockdown following reports of an "active shooter" on campus. Apalachee High School , situated in Winder, Barrow County, approximately 50 miles from Atlanta, received multiple reports of gunfire. A chilling video captured at the scene shows students fleeing the school grounds .

The student's class was later evacuated to the football field.

Brittany Lewis said: "Active shooter is at my kid's school Apalachee High School one has been reported shot I don't know if it's a teacher or student. A suspect is in custody, police say. The shooter has not been identified. Senior Sergio Caldera said he was in chemistry class when he heard gunshots."

"My teacher goes and opens the door to see what's going on," the 17-year-old told ABC News. "Another teacher comes running in and tells her to close the door because there's an active shooter ."

President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting incident. Agents from the FBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are currently at the scene.
