Salem Residents Invited to Museum of Science for Free Throughout September

SALEM, MA – The popular September Salem Days program is back for 2024, offering all Salem residents free admission to the Museum of Science in Boston every day throughout the month of September. This exciting opportunity is made possible through the continued generosity of the Norman H. Read Charitable Trust, which has supported this program since its inception in 2009.

In addition to free Museum admission, this year’s September Salem Days will feature several special perks on selected dates. On September 14, residents can enjoy free round-trip commuter rail service from Salem to Boston with Mayor Dominick Pangallo, and on September 28, they can ride with Salem Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Stephen Zrike. A limited number of $10 food vouchers, redeemable at the Museum's Riverview Café, will also be available to residents on September 14.

Mayor Pangallo expressed his gratitude to the Read Charitable Trust, saying, “The Museum of Science is an important resource to our region, and lots of fun! The Norman H. Read Charitable Trust funds many programs in our schools, but September Salem Days is a gift to all Salem residents. I hope that all residents will take advantage of this generous offer, and I look forward to seeing many community members there.”

Since 2009, the Norman H. Read Charitable Trust has funded free admission to the Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, and the Topsfield Fair for thousands of Salem residents. Norman Read, the benefactor behind the trust, was a pioneer in the oil and natural gas industries and created the trust to promote excellence in science education for Salem residents.

    How to Secure Your Tickets:

This special offer is available to Salem residents during the month of September 2024 (excluding September 3), while supplies last. Residents can claim free admission by visiting the Museum of Science box office and presenting proof of residency, such as a valid driver’s license or photo ID with a Salem address. Admission includes access to the Museum's Exhibit Halls, as well as one Omni film or Planetarium show.

The Museum of Science will be open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM throughout September, with the exception of September 3.
