Magic Kingdom Dining Series - Tony's Town Square

It was not long ago that the Magic Kingdom was believed to be among the worst places on property to have a sit down meal, and there options were very limited. Disney made some changes to the food scene at Magic Kingdom to address it. Please read all the way through for a look at what we had, and how much it cost us to do so. We did not recieve any compensation for this article so the opinions are ours and not influenced by any 3rd parties.

Tony's has had its ups and downs with Disney fans, in the early days it was the best place to sit down and then it went through some dark times with the menu and quality being called out.

Disney made a lot of menu changes towards the end of 2023, so we thought it would be a good time to see if any of the changes helped or hurt Tony's Town Square. Today we will be ordering at least one dish from each category and supplying pictures and a honest overview.

The Antipasti section had a couple good options but ultimately we settled on two family favorites the Fried Mozzarella for $15, which came with 2 extremely large sticks of fried cheese. The breading was seasoned well and cheese was melted, if you love dipping sauce request it before you order. The picture did not do the size justice, this was meant to be shared for sure. The other dish shown below is Tony's Garlic Bread For The Table at $13. This was probably the better flavored of the 2 dishes and eating both took up a lot of valueable real estate in the stomach. On a side note they no longer bring out the "free" bread and butter.

For the entrees we picked two different items that the wait staff indicated were popular choices.

Spaghetti and Meatballs - Fresh BasilPhoto byCamillo Vitale

We were told the Spaghetti and Meatballs were the runaway most popular item ordered on the menu. The marinara sauce was thick and had a nice tomato flavor, the meatballs were a mix of beef, pork and breadcrumb and were cooked nicely. This dish was well executed, but felt expensive at $27. We also tried the oven roasted Shrimp Scampi as shown below. This dish has a lemon garlic overtone which was pleasant, you could tell they cooked off all of the white wine so its safe for all ages. The only drawback for us was the dish it was served in made the garlic butter seem like it was way too much, almost soaking in it. This will cost you $33 to try, I would not order this again.

So far we have been getting great service, there were a lot of tables and it can get quite loud in some parts of the restaurant. There is a slight Lady and the Tramp theme going in here but you can easily miss it.

We decided to also give the Cannoli a try, the menu said it was the classic and it was. What was impressive was how well they were filled and crunchy the shell remained. The server did not know if they were filled on demand, but I suspect they might be at $9.50. Below you will see the Affogato, which is plant based and is an espresso with a plant based vanilla gelato and was a nice touch. This will run you $8 at the time of the article.

The verdict - Tony's Town Square is back to its winning ways. Is this as good as Tutto Gusto or Via Napoli, not at all. This place aims to be more Italian American menu with some surprising presentations and flavor profiles. We would dine here again if we were at Magic Kingdom and had a hankering for Italian food. It is a bit hit and miss on availability so make a reservation in advance to lock in your table. There is a walk up list on most but not all days depending on availability.
