Releases are a part of the wrestling business. It’s that darn business part. Sometimes, anyways. At times, companies cut wrestlers due to issues with performance, behavior or money. Plenty of those examples are around, even recently. Now, we can add another. Per Fightfu l, Gisele Shaw has been released by TNA. With that said, here’s what we know, and what to make of it.

    What happened?

Per the report, the release was requested by Shaw herself. There was no pushback or resistance from TNA leadership-just one condition with the immediate release. They requested that Shaw work the now-completed Louisville tapings before she was finished, putting someone over in the process. Shaw, the consummate professional, obliged. It allowed TNA to cleanly write her off of television, and you know never to say never in professional wrestling.

In terms of what comes next for Gisele now? Per the report, she has bookings with Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Wrestling for later this year. Barring some change, she is expected to fulfill those, and perhaps focus on that more as a full-time gig. Of course, beyond that, she is still a known name and should be able to market herself well enough on the independent circuit. I don’t know that we could expect her to bring much interest by either AEW or WWE , but anything is possible and she’s certainly an accomplished veteran. Not sure if she would want, or WWE would consider her for, an NXT coaching spot? But given her resume, I expect she will have no issues finding opportunities.

One thing I bet she won’t be doing? Wrestling conventions where she shares a table with Rick Steiner . At least, not any time soon.
