The ceremony will also remember the late members James Jones, Joe Nathan Moore, and Florene Jenkins.</p><p>The ceremony marks the 59th anniversary of the Courageous Seven's pivotal moment on September 7, 1965, when they became the first African-American students to attend Holt High School. The celebration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the unveiling of a plaque that will be permanently displayed in the school lobby to commemorate this historic milestone.</p><p>In addition to the plaque unveiling, each member of the Courageous Seven will receive an individual plaque acknowledging their significant contribution. State Senator Gerald Allen will present a proclamation honoring their bravery. The event will feature a video presentation and personal reflections from those in attendance, including several local and state officials who will emphasize the importance of this commemoration.</p><p>This event not only celebrates the Courageous Seven's legacy but also highlights the ongoing commitment to acknowledging and learning from the struggles and triumphs of those who came before us.
