She was a former standout player at Fresno Pacific University. Her time at Fresno Pacific was marked by dedication and perseverance, qualities that she has carried into her coaching careerShe said that she is happy that she can return to the school where it all started for her — the school that helped develop her love for the game of basketball.“Coming back as the head coach, especially as a former player, is deeply personal. It’s like coming full circle. I understand the values and traditions of Lemoore, and I’m eager to build upon that foundation, bringing fresh ideas and my own experiences to lead the team. This role allows me to contribute in a meaningful way and to help guide the next generation of student-athletes, just as I was guided during my time here,” Alvarez said.“Returning home to Lemoore is more than just a job for me; it’s a chance to reconnect with my roots, to contribute to a community I hold dear, and to continue the legacy of nurturing young talent. It’s an opportunity to give back with the same passion and dedication that was once given to me.”Lemoore High School Principal Brady Holaday expressed confidence in Alvarez's ability to lead the program. "We are incredibly excited to welcome Coach Alvarez back to Lemoore High,"' said Mr. Holaday in a statement released by the school. "Her deep connection to our school, combined with her coaching experience and passion for the game, makes her the perfect fit to lead our girls' basketball team." Alvarez began her head coaching career at Selma High School, where she made a significant impact on the program.“Reflecting on my time at Selma, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible people I met and the experiences we shared. Those moments were invaluable in shaping my approach to coaching and leadership. The friendships, lessons, and support I received at Selma are cherished memories that I carry with me. They remind me of the importance and the impact we can have on each other’s lives," Alvarez said. Alvarez is a native of Lemoore and played at Lemoore High School where she was a three-time All-League selection and three-time team MVP. She played at Fresno Pacific University, graduating in 2020. At FPU, she was named All PacWest Player in multiple seasons along with receiving Academic All PacWest Player honors. Additionally, she is a member of the distinguished 1,000-point club. Alvarez said she cannot wait to step in as the leader for her alma mater. “I hope to bring a renewed sense of energy, passion and commitment to the Lemoore program. My vision is to inspire and elevate our student-athletes, instilling in them the same love for the game that I have, and to foster an environment where they can thrive both on and off the court,” Alvarez said. “It’s about creating a culture of excellence, teamwork, and resilience, one that celebrates every small victory and supports each player’s growth.”Lemoore footballThe Lemoore High Tigers football team moved to 2-0 on the season following a 30-25 win over Washington Union High School on Aug. 30 in Easton. The Tigers host El Diamante High School on Friday, Sept. 6. Lemoore boys water poloThe Lemoore High Tigers boys water polo team opened their season with a dominate 21-1 win over El Diamante High School on Aug. 29 in Visalia. The Tigers played Centennial High on Sept. 5. No score was available at presstime. They then will compete in the Morro Bay Tournament Sept. 6-7 in Morro Bay. In their win over El Diamante, Grayson Cunningham led the Tigers with five goals. Wyatt Jones had four goals, while Kolton Ramos, Case Meyer and Casey Minnig each had three goals. Drew Rhoads had two goals and led the team with five assists. Donovan Redding had nine saves in goal. </div></body>
