What good is an expensive device if you have to stop and power it up 10 times a day? That’s when an iPhone (usually a convenient tool to have at your fingertips) becomes a hassle. But you don’t have to settle for a super-slow battery or a phone that doesn’t work at its highest capacity, even though you paid top dollar for it. Instead of continuing to charge your phone (and charge it again, and charge it some more), there are a few great hacks you can follow that can help you boost your phone’s battery power.

Here are three battery saving tips that expert recommend for a longer-lasting battery. These hacks will change the game.

    1. Use Dark Mode

The intensity of the brightness and light on your phone can rapidly cause your battery to deteriorate. Switching to Dark Mode relies instead on darker colors for backgrounds and can help reduce eye strain and minimize distractions so that your focus is more clear.

Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > toggle on Dark Mode. This simple setting switch can save you battery power.

    2. Lower White Point

The White Point setting on your iPhone also relates to the brightness of the colors on your screen. Reducing it can lead to less dependency on your battery and less battery strain, while also helping to reduce eye strain. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Reduce White Point. The lower you can adjust this setting, the more battery you’ll conserve.

    3. Enable Optimize Battery Charging

If you aren’t taking advance of Apple’s built-in tool that helps you conserve battery power, you aren’t doing all you can to help prolong the life of your phone. Optimize Battery Charging learns your daily charging patterns and predicts how long it should stay charged at 80 percent before increasing the charge to 100 percent, in an effort not to stay at 100 percent for too long, which can tax your battery. The setting even works if you are charging your phone overnight — it will provide a trickle charge until the wee hours of the morning, before you wake up.

To enable it, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging > toggle on Optimized Battery Charging.
