On Wednesday, the Washington Commanders locked down right guard Sam Cosmi on a four-year extension to keep him on the next team through the 2028 season.

He was drafted as a tackle out of the University of Texas in 2021, but once he made the move to guard, he had a career year. Following the contract news, Commanders general manager Adam Peters released a statement sharing his excitement over the deal.

“This is a great day for the Washington Commanders,” the statement said. “We’re excited to have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Sam Cosmi. Sam has bought into the vision that Dan Quinn and I have had for this team since day one,

“He is a pillar of our offensive line and we believe that Sam’s best playing days are ahead. Sam is a great leader and teammate and we’re excited that he will be a member of our team for years to come.”

Cosmi is a tough, hard-nosed player that will make the entire offensive line better. With the additions of center Tyler Biadasz and left guard Nick Allegretti, the interior of the offensive line is in good hands.
