Register now for Westcliffe’s Alla Prima Plein Air Paint-Out Sept. 8-14

Artists are invited to treat themselves to a week of spectacular late summer days, painting in the picturesque Wet Mountain Valley of Colorado, at Sangres Art Guild’s Alla Prima Westcliffe (APW) Plein Air Paint-Out Sept. 8-14. Following the paint-out, the artwork will be on exhibit through September in Westcliffe’s 3rd Street Gallery. Register at Sangres Art Guild – Alla Prima Westcliffe 2024.

This paint-from-life event includes alla prima painting created from life in the manner of plein air, but not necessarily done outdoors. Subject matter embraces landscapes, ranch life, figurative and still life. All paintings are created from life during the event. An optional two-day workshop with artist Lorenzo Chavez at the beginning of Alla Prima Westcliffe will help tune up plein air creativity. Artists will enjoy painting sweeping scenic views of the magnificent Sangre de Cristo Mountains as well as intimate outdoor scenes, historic architecture, ranches, and special events.

Alla Prima Westcliffe Plein Air painting days run from Sept. 8-13. Optional painting sites are offered to participants along with a vast array of natural vistas to discover at a cost of just $60. A Quick Draw takes place from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 14 which is free for APW participants. Alla Prima Westcliffe Art Sale Days begin from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 13 with a special “Sneak Peek Show”. The APW art Show is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, with an “APW Gala” Reception from 3-6 p.m. Awards will be announced at 4 p.m. Artists are invited to transfer their art to hang in 3rd Street Gallery for a continued show that begins on Sunday, Sept. 14 and ends with pick up on either Sunday, Sept. 29 or Monday, Sept. 30.
