Ohio troopers confirm one dead in three semi truck crash on I-75

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a crash involving multiple semi trucks that left one person dead in Ohio on Wednesday.

The crash occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on September 4, on I-75 in Dinsmore Township, Shelby County, Ohio.

OSHP says that Jaquan Simon, 27 , was operating a 2015 International truck northbound on I-75 when he was struck from the rear by a 2020 Freightliner, operated by Jeffrey Sherrick, 65. The 2020 Freightliner was then struck from behind by a 2023 Volvo tractor-trailer-combination, operated by, Iurie Chetrusca, 43.

The International came to a stop off the road on the right side of the interstate.

The Freightliner was disabled on I-75 and caught fire.

The Volvo also caught fire.

Chetrusca died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Sherrick was treated for minor injuries.

OSHP’s Piqua Post is investigating the crash.

Responding agencies include the Botkins Police Department, Botkins Fire Department, Anna Fire Department, Jackson Center Fire Department, Shelby County Coroner’s Office.
