The 2024 campaign just started, so Clemson’s regular season rivalry finale against South Carolina is still a couple of months down the road. However, the matchup with the Tigers is already on Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer’s mind.

Clemson and South Carolina won’t meet until Nov. 30, but Beamer is already counting down the days until the contest, and he said as much when talking to his team this week following the Gamecocks’ season opener vs. Old Dominion this past Saturday.

“I told the team today, we are 88 days from the Clemson game,” Beamer said during a press conference this week, via Chaz R Frazier of ABC Columbia . “So, we ain’t got a lot of time to sit around and wait for this thing to gel. We got to gel right now, and we can’t just sit around and wait for it to happen. We got to make it happen.”

Beamer’s team barely avoided an upset to open the 2024 season, squeaking by Old Dominion at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. The Gamecocks recovered a couple of fumbles inside the 10-yard line that turned into their only two touchdowns, and escaped with a 23-19 win over a Monarchs team that was picked to finish sixth out of seven teams in the Sun Belt East Division.

When Clemson takes on South Carolina for the Nov. 30 matchup in Death Valley, it will mark the 121st installment of the arch rivalry. Clemson is 73-43-4 all-time against South Carolina, including a 19-11-1 mark against the Gamecocks at home since the rivalry transitioned to a home-and-home format in 1960.

The Tigers have won eight of the series’ last nine games, including last year’s 16-7 win in Columbia, and Clemson has outscored South Carolina by an average of 21.1 points per game in that span.
