The hotel will celebrate its grand opening with a block party on Sept. 21.
Leaf peepers in Vermont this season have a new option for lodging: a Stowe mountain escape with cabins and direct access to a scenic recreation path.
Outbound Stowe, which opened in July, offers 73 rooms, lofts, and cabins. The boutique hotel, situated on nine acres and nestled alongside West Branch Little River, also provides direct access to Stowe Recreation Path and features a new restaurant. The hotel is part of the the Outbound Hotels collection.
The hotel lobby, with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing nature, features a fireplace where guests can relax while sipping locally roasted coffee or organic tea.
Travelers can choose between a variety of accommodations that include rooms, suites, and standalone cottages and cabins.
The rooms and suites feature king and queen beds and bunk beds for those traveling with kids. One-bedroom cabin rentals sleep four guests and feature floor-to-ceiling windows, a king bed, queen sleeper sofa, and kitchenette. The three-bedroom cottage sleeps eight guests and offers two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a fireplace, and a private outdoor patio.
The hotel features minimalist details and traditional Vermont woodworking, with a color palette of reds, blues, yellows, greens, and oranges.
Outbound Hotels says it offers “the perfect blend of adventure and comfort” and its hotels are situated where travelers can access “extraordinary outdoor destinations.” Last month, Stowe was named among the eight most popular fall foliage destinations in the U.S. by Priceline, which called it “New England’s color capital.”
Outbound Stowe guests have access to the Stowe Recreation Path, a 5.3-mile paved public path with access to restaurants and shops that stretches from historic Stowe Village to a scenic covered bridge. It is open year round and used by bikers, runners, and walkers, and more.
The hotel’s restaurant, Eastside, opens this weekend. It will offer craft cocktails, local beer, and a menu that draws from nearby farms and dairies and is curated by chef Matthias Merges. Guests can eat inside, on the patio, or fireside.
Hotel guests can relax in the hot tub, around fire pits, or by the pool, which is billed as the largest in the state. Dog-friendly rooms are available.
“We are excited to unveil Outbound Stowe, a place where guests can embark on memorable outdoor adventures while enjoying the comforts of our uniquely designed hotel,” said Matthew Mering, executive vice president of hospitality at Waterton, Outbound Hotels’ ownership group, in a statement. “Whether hiking scenic trails or relaxing by our pool, Outbound Stowe invites you to explore the beauty of Vermont in an inviting and vibrant setting.”
The hotel will celebrate its grand opening with a block party for the public on Sept. 21 featuring music, food trucks, and a pop-up market with local makers.
Outbound Hotels collection currently includes Outbound Stowe; The Virginian Lodge, an Outbound Hotel, in Jackson Hole, Wyo.; and Outbound Mammoth, in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. Outbound Yosemite in Oakhurst, Calif. is slated to open in 2025.
The starting rate at Outbound Stowe is $219 per night.
