On August 4th, Freddy was found by a park ranger, but Schock remained missing despite search efforts along the 17-mile trail.Schock’s mother, Jan Thompson, was contacted by authorities after Freddy was found, and she reported her son missing the next day. Search crews, including a helicopter team, combed the trail without success. But then on August 30th, a trail crew heard Schock yelling for help. After making contact, he was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Although he was found to be uninjured, he was severely malnourished and is recovering in the hospital.Thompson shared that Schock was disoriented after crossing a river on the trail, which had changed since his last visit, leading to his month-long ordeal in the wilderness.
