Finally, after years of stagnation and decay, the former Six Flags structure will be disassembled and hauled away.

Bayou Phoenix, the company who won the contract to redevelop after a very public and community advocated process, has secured an agreement with a contractor to cleanup the last remnants of the theme park.

"We are finalizing with the company so they can get the permit to start knocking things down."

Bayou Phoenix developer, Troy Henry, says it won't be an easy or quick process but is a great sign that things are moving forward.

"It will take about five months and we are also having a simultaneous site assessment of the concrete slabs and infrastructure."

This marks a new beginning for the site after seventeen years of rot.
